1000 Books Before Kindergarten?

The Library is excited to be a part of this nationwide movement to help infants, toddlers, and all pre-K children read with their parents and caregivers to prepare for school.  Can you read 1000 books with your child before kindergarten?  Of course you can!  The Library offers a wide variety of books to engage your child in the process of reading.  If you read one book a night for three years that’s well over the goal, and reading the same title multiple times counts as well!

Sign up for “1000 Books” at the Library to receive your reading log and program information.  After 100 books recorded your child will receive a prize and his or her name up on our special display in the children’s area.  Every 100 books after that moves your child’s name another space along the display and they’ll earn another prize.  Once you reach 1000 books the Library Director will put their name on the highest part of the display (it takes a long ladder to do it!).  Have fun picking out books and reading with your child.  They’ll be ready for kindergarten before you know it!
