The Dowagiac District Library is in a growing, progressive and developing stage of its long history, serving readers, listeners, viewers, researchers, adventurers, and information seekers of all ages.

Beginning 134 years ago as a subscription library, then a Carnegie library, a city library and now our district library, this facility and its programs continue to enrich lives.

Our Mission

The Dowagiac District Library creates an environment in our community for all people to learn, to explore, to create, to interact.

The library provides access to ideas, information, experiences and materials that support and enrich people's lives by preserving the past, promoting the present, and embracing the future.
